Why the kennel called NOTANGA ? A little history . In Lithuanian Notanga, Notangai (German: NATANGEN; English: NATANGIA) is an area in former East Prussia, situated today on both sides of the border between Poland and the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast. Why this land is so important ? It is patrimony of Herkus Mantas (English: Herkus Monte also Hercus; Latin: Henricus Montemin) . He was the most famous leader of the Great Prussian Uprising against the Catholic Teutonic Knights and Northern Crusaders. The uprising began in September of 1260, following the Knights' defeat at the Battle of Durbe, and lasted for the next fourteen years. His fight give the time for other Baltic tribes to unite against Catholic Knights invasion and to birth the Lithuanian Kingdom and the State.
So by giving name NOTANGA to the Teutonic breed kennel I put a little sarcasm - the heathen grow in to keeping patrician dogs :D
